-- JVP-HV Book Group

We meet monthly to discuss books such as Amy Kaplan's "Our American Israel," Yoram Binur's "My Enemy, Myself," Ilan Pappé's "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" (see photo), and Colum McCann's "Apeirogon."

Each selection offers food for thought, in addition to the meals we shared pre-pandemic.

-- JVP-HV Events Committee

The Events Committee seeks out speakers who demonstrate political, economic, racial, and historic connections between struggles for justice in our own region and similar struggles in Israel/Palestine.  Our most recent events have taken up the patterns of abuse and trauma for incarcerated black and brown youth in the U.S. and Palestinian youth in Israel, as well as the displacement of peoples from their homes and communities from gentrification pressures and their impact on homelessness and housing insecurity for black, brown and poor household the Mid-Hudson Valley, and the ongoing destruction of Palestinian homes the encouragement of Israeli settlements.
Our goal is to build upon local consciousness and activism and develop strong,  resilient solidarity.

- JVP-HV Congressional Action Committee

In addition to supporting the national JVP Legislative Agenda, we work to educate and advocate for JVP's positions with our elected State and Federal representatives as well as those who are running in primaries.
